The Magic of Scaffolding: Every Kid Can Learn!

Standardised worksheets and tasks may pose difficulties for some children, particularly those with special needs, who have unique learning styles and preferences. Very often, they are dismissed as unteachable by their parents and teachers. However, through the incorporation of various types of scaffolding, whether within the worksheets, or additional learning resources, caregivers and educators can help these children/students to grasp the concepts being taught. In this workshop, participants will not only learn the principles and techniques of creating effective scaffolding in their worksheets and tasks, but also learn how to make the different types of scaffolding.

Programme Objectives

  • Understand the importance of Scaffolding in Learning.
  • Learn about the different types of Scaffolding and how to use them.
  • Explore the different types of Scaffolding in work samples and templates.
  • Create worksheets and learning activities with Customised Scaffolding (suited to the individual learners).

Lecture (with slideshow), Small and Large-Group Discussions, Activity and Q & A.

  • Definition and functions of Scaffolding.
  • Various types of Scaffolding and their functions.
  • How to incorporate Scaffolding into worksheets and learning activities.
  • Practise designing worksheets and learning activities with scaffolding.
  • How to create visual and tactile learning materials.
