Tough Love: Taking Charge of Your Child with Special Needs

One of the common struggles experienced by caregivers of children with special needs is the latter’s inappropriate behaviour that includes non-compliance, disruptiveness and even aggression.  For various reasons, children with special needs will often act out of frustration in order to assert control, gain attention and/or avoid task. As a result, they can appear to be highly ‘unteachable’ in learning situations by displaying uncooperative or bizarre behaviours. They may also act disruptively in public places, which can be inconsiderate to others around them. Finally, they may even act out through verbal or physical aggression. In this 3-hour workshop, participants will gain tremendous insight into the underlying causes of their children’s behaviour and learn about the behavioural management approach for extinguishing such behaviour.
